SOMWA is criticizing the Somali police forces of their assaulting Somali Broadcast Corporation TV reporter in Mogadishu as unacceptable and act of hostility.
According to SBC office in the capital, a female police commander at Hamarjajab district slapped journalist Abdullahi Sheik Doon in the face viciously during COVID19 reporting and ordered to arrest him.
Somali government continues to violate the freedom of expression by harassing journalists.
We call again on the federal government and its member states to respect the independent media and let the professionals to exercise their duty freely.
