LONDON (SOMWA) – A group of prominent Somali journalists gathered in London on 29 November 2021, to commemorate the death of late former Radio Mogadishu director Abdiaziz Mohamud Guled (Afrika), who was killed in a suicide car bomb last week in Mogadishu – Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility for that attack.
The attack also wounded several other people, including the director of Somali National Television.
The journalists expressed their sorrow over the death of Abdiaziz Afrika, who was well known for his investigative programs in which he interviewed several Al-Shabaab members who were arrested by the Somali security forces.
Maryan Seylac, SOMWA, executive director, who was honored to speak at the event said “It is so sad and depressing to see every day a talent and hard-working journalists being murdered right through our eyes and their perpetrators go scout free.”
The journalists condoled the death of late Abdiaziz and blessed his Jannah as they described him as a hero who dared to sacrifice his life in working through difficult circumstances.
