Somali Media Women Association (SOMWA) strongly condemns the killing of journalist Abdiwali Ali who was on Sunday evening shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Afgoye, about 30 kilometres (18 miles) southwest of the capital Mogadishu.
“I am deeply saddened by the death of Abdiwali Ali in Afgooye. He was doing his job, I strongly condemn this senseless and horrific killing of the journalist,” said Maryan Seylac, the executive director of SOMWA. “I call on the authorities in Afgoye district to launch a thorough investigation and hope that those responsible are swiftly identified and brought to justice.”
“Abdiwali Ali was a young and passionate journalist who worked for Radio Kulmiye and Universal TV. This is a terrible loss,” She added “I extend my deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of Abdiwali Ali during this difficult time.”
