Somali Media Women Association welcomes the decision by the Somalia’ s prime minister Hassan Ali Khaire as a positive step in which he allowed the media to be part of the essential service in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maryan Seylac, executive director of SOMWA said it is more important that the media outlets should continue their duties during the lock down against the Coronovirus with carefulness.
“We as SOMWA suggest that either independent or government run media should follow the guidelines of the COVID-19 prevention, such as social distance with 2 meter by avoiding physical contact, social gathering and international regulations including washing hands with anti-germ soap for 20 seconds.” Seylac said adding that this could save you and your family from the risk of this killer disease.
